Royal Brackla 2010 12 years in the Old Particular release by Douglas Laing offers a profile that speaks of the grace and restraint typical of the Highlands. On the nose it opens with soft notes of malted barley and honey, accompanied by hints of vanilla and citrus zest — not flashy, but with clear purity. The body is slim yet present: the structure supports the sip well, where sweet tones return alongside a light spiciness that balances its roundness.

The length is modest and pleasant, with a finish that leaves traces of light caramel and a subtle woody note. It’s a whisky to enjoy neat or with a few drops of water to open its aromas; the 70 cl bottle with case also makes it suitable as a gift. It pairs well with aged cheeses that aren’t too assertive, caramel-based desserts, or simply as a digestif after a hearty meal, when you’re looking for balance rather than power.
