An interesting expression from Togouchi, finished in rum casks, that delivers a soft, luminous aromatic profile. On the nose there are sweet notes of cane sugar and molasses, hints of vanilla and a light impression of ripe flesh fruit; the wood is sweet, never intrusive, adding touches of caramel and delicate spices. On the palate the sip is round and enveloping, with balanced warmth and a clean finish, where the sweet component of the finish integrates with a precise structure without weighing it down.

It lends itself to being enjoyed neat to appreciate its finesse, but it also stands up well to a few ice cubes that open up the aromas. It pairs well with desserts based on dark chocolate or dried fruit, and can support pairings with aged cheeses; a wide glass is recommended to capture the bouquet and a few minutes in the glass to allow the aromas to evolve. The presentation box makes it a welcome gift for those seeking a whisky with a soft, enveloping character.
