This cask-strength single malt from the Isle of Raasay presents itself as a bottle that doesn't aim for gentleness but for the direct expression of the spirit: aromatic intensity, full-bodied structure and a flavour profile that lingers. On the nose there are ripe, fleshy fruits and citrus zest, a hint of honey and sweet spices mingling with a slightly maritime note and a touch of smoke; everything is wrapped in an alcoholic warmth that is present but softened by roundness.

On the palate the sip is powerful yet balanced: the initial roundness gives way to a savory, spicy development, with fruity returns and a long, warm, clean finish. It's ideal to be savoured on its own as a contemplative whisky; a drop of water opens the aromas without altering the character. It pairs well with dark chocolate, aged cheeses or simply an evening when you want a spirit with personality. The presentation box also makes it a thoughtful gift.
