Springbank 1992, thirty-one years of maturation presented by Douglas Laing in the Extra Old Particular series, is a Campbeltown single malt offered in a velvet case whose very presentation suggests care and restraint. On the nose it opens with maritime, iodine-tinged notes intertwined with ripe barley malt, honey and a delicate smoky thread; then dried fruit aromas appear along with a light herbaceous note that adds freshness. The profile remains refined, with a supple yet well-sculpted structure. The elegance of the long aging is apparent in the softness and the clean expression on the palate.

On the palate the sip is enveloping: the initial sweetness evolves into warm spices and a lively salinity that supports a long finish. Oxidative elements and wood are integrated, never overwhelming the distillery’s character; a few drops of water release additional aromas and a subtle earthy complexity. Serve at room temperature in a tulip glass, ideal with dark chocolate, aged cheeses or as a moment of contemplation after a meal.
