Descrizione

Il Rosé “Whispering Angel” di Chateau d'Esclans è una delle migliori eccellenze in assoluto tra i rosati, se non il miglior rosé della Provenza. Nasce da una selezione delle migliori uve della tenuta e da una lavorazione delicata, in modo da realizzare un vino raffinato e di straordinaria eleganza. Con il perfetto clima mite della Provenza, si ottengono uve profumate, con aromi intensi, che offrono un calice fragrante con una freschezza agrumata.

Il “Whispering Angel” è un Rosé leggendario, sempre più apprezzata a livello mondiale. La tradizione provenzale produce vini dal pallido colore, dal profilo raffinato, quasi dei bianchi arricchiti dagli aromi tipici delle uve rosse. La vendemmia viene effettuata leggermente anticipata, per preservare la giusta freschezza dei grappoli , si procede poi ad una pressatura molto soffice con un cortissimo contatto con le bucce. Il mosto fiore fermenta in serbatoi d’acciaio inox a temperatura controllata, poi matura per alcuni mesi in vasche d’acciaio.

È realizzato con un’insieme di uve del territorio, che hanno caratteristiche perfettamente adatte per la vinificazione in rosé: gli aromi della Grenache che ricordano i frutti di bosco, il frutto esuberante del Cinsault, la leggera speziatura della Syrah, la superba struttura del Carignan, e gli inebrianti profumi e la freschezza del Vermentino. Il risultato è un calice eccellente, che seduce con il suo bellissimo colore rosa tenue luminoso.

Al naso risaltano i profumi di petalo di rosa, con note agrumate di scorza di mandarino e lime, cenni di macchia mediterranea ed esili sensazioni iodate. Il gusto è leggero ed estremamente delicato, con aromi sfaccettati ed eleganti, seguiti da un finale fresco e sapido. Un’etichetta imprescindibile per tutti gli appassionati di rosé.

Si abbina perfettamente a tartare di pesce, antipasti caldi di mare, risotto ai frutti di mare e stuzzichini con formaggi freschi.

Winery history

The estate has ancient origins and is known as a benchmark wine in the Côtes de Provence. Sacha Lichine acquired and revitalized the estate in 2005–2006, bringing it to a global audience; in 2019 a majority stake was acquired by Moët Hennessy/LVMH. Under Lichine's leadership the estate introduced modern production practices and a range of cuvées with both commercial appeal and premium profiles.

Production philosophy

The approach is to elevate rosé to a gastronomic wine: targeted early-morning harvests, hand selection and optical sorting of the clusters, and the combined use of vinification in stainless steel and in casks to create wines that are fresh yet structured. The winery emphasizes technological control and careful grape selection to maintain consistency of style across vintages.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate is located in the valle d'Esclans, in the commune of La Motte-en-Provence, within the protected AOC Côtes de Provence area. The terrain is typically Mediterranean, with mixed soils planted with old vines.
