Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

Strong focus on blending and assembly of distillates (particularly rum); use of group-owned distilleries and chais for some expressions; aging and finishing in dedicated chais for brandy and eaux-de-vie.

Distillation

Predominantly blending/assembly activity; distillation carried out at distilleries controlled or acquired by the group for some references.

Ageing

Aging in casks for eaux-de-vie and brandy; use of ex-bourbon barrels documented for some rum expressions (e.g. Añejo Reserve).

Producer history Bardinet

Founded by Paul Bardinet in the second half of the 19th century, the company built its reputation on the European rum market with the Negrita brand. Over time Bardinet expanded by acquiring distilleries and chais (e.g. Dillon in Martinique, Bellevue in Marie-Galante) and in 1993 joined the La Martiniquaise group. Today it maintains blending, aging and commercial activities across several categories of spirits.

Production philosophy

To value the tradition of blending and assembly to offer accessible, internationally recognisable products by combining traditional methods with modern production and marketing practices.

Territory

France (historic activities and chais in the Bordeaux area) with strong production and sourcing links to the Caribbean islands (Martinique, Marie-Galante) for rums.

Awards and recognitions

Negrita: category winner at the World Rum Awards (White Unaged Rums), Silver at the IWSC and Bronze at the International Spirits Challenge (Dark Rum), as well as Bronze in the Spiced Rum category at the IWSC (reported in brand press material).
