The story
The Boukman brand was launched in 2016 by two partners linked to the non-profit organization Haïti Futur. The project promotes the Haitian terroir by collaborating with local rhum-producing families (mentioning three families involved) and reinvests part of the profits in local educational initiatives.
Production philosophy
To promote Haitian culture and terroir through a rhum that highlights local raw materials and indigenous botanicals, while supporting the economy and education of the sugarcane-growing communities involved.
Territory
Haiti (specific terroirs mentioned: Croix-des-Bouquets and areas around Cap Haïtien).
Production method
Produced and bottled in Haiti; the product is a rhum distilled from fresh cane juice (rhum agricole/clairin style) which is then infused with a range of barks, citrus and typical spices to obtain a complex, dry botanical rhum.
Distillation
Distilled from fresh sugarcane juice (rhum agricole / clairin); subsequently infused with botanicals and barks.
