Producer history Buffalo Trace

The site's origins date to 1775 with the founding of Leestown on the banks of the Kentucky River. In the 19th century the facility developed as the O.F.C. Distillery and was associated with key bourbon figures such as E.H. Taylor and George T. Stagg. In 1904 the site was known as the George T. Stagg Distillery; after various changes and renovations, the distillery was refurbished in 1999 and renamed Buffalo Trace Distillery, launching the eponymous brand. In 2013 the distillery was designated a National Historic Landmark.
