Sambuca Molinari was born in 1945 in Civitavecchia, conceived by Angelo Molinari. In the 1950s and 1960s the product established itself in Rome and abroad; in the 1970s the company expanded production capacity with a new plant in Colfelice. In 2003 Molinari Caffè was relaunched; in 2006 the Fondazione Angelo Molinari was established; in 2017 the bottle underwent a restyling and in 2020 the company celebrated its 75th anniversary.
