The name evokes the illicit rye production practised in Templeton (Iowa) during Prohibition. In 2015 the producer reached a settlement over disputes concerning how origin and process were communicated; in subsequent years the company invested in its own facility in Templeton, IA, where it now carries out aging, bottling and partially distillation.
