Winery history Castello di Cacchiano

The Castello di Cacchiano complex belongs to the Ricasoli‑Firidolfi family and has been part of the local landscape for over a millennium. The site has ancient origins on the remains of a Roman settlement, and the present core, associated with the Ricasoli, is documented as having been built in the medieval period. The estate has maintained a historic winemaking tradition integrated with hospitality services.

Production philosophy

The winery aims to express the terroir of the area by working carefully both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Its stated objective is to enhance the typical character of each vintage and of the individual parcels to produce wines that are recognizable and tied to their place.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate falls within the U.G.A. of Gaiole in Chianti, on the Monti in Chianti, with vineyards situated at approximately 340–490 metres above sea level. Soils are predominantly silty‑clayey with calcareous marls and calcareous sandstones; the area includes woodlands, olive groves and fields that contribute to the estate’s biodiversity.
