Carlo Hauner's Hiera Rosso PGI Terre Siciliane is a tribute to the intensity and passion that characterize Sicilian wines, coming from one of the most prestigious and respected wineries on the island. Created with a blend of native grapes, this wine expresses the power and richness of the volcanic terroir of the Aeolian Islands, an archipelago which, thanks to its unique soil composition and Mediterranean climate, gives life to wines of remarkable character and depth.

Carlo Hauner, an emblematic figure in the Sicilian wine scene, has been able to capture the essence of his native land, experimenting with innovative techniques while maintaining a profound respect for tradition and the environment. Hiera Rosso is the result of this philosophy, a wine that reflects its creator's passion for art and wine.

Wine Profile: At sight, Hiera Rosso has a deep ruby red color, with violet reflections that anticipate its youth and liveliness. On the nose, the wine releases an intense and enveloping aroma, characterized by notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices, chocolate and a light hint of tobacco and minerality, typical of the volcanic soil on which the grapes grow.

In the mouth, the wine is powerful but balanced, with a well-defined tannic structure that supports a rich and enveloping body. The flavor palette is in perfect harmony with the olfactory notes, offering a complex and layered taste experience, with a long and persistent finish that leaves memories of black fruit and a pleasant freshness.

Gastronomic Pairings: Thanks to its structure and complexity, Carlo Hauner's Hiera Rosso PGI Terre Siciliane is ideal in combination with intense and tasty dishes. It goes perfectly with grilled red meats, game dishes, mature cheeses and traditional Sicilian recipes that require a wine with character and depth.

Winery history
The winery is named after Carlo Hauner, a Brescian artist who in the 1960s moved to Salina and began cultivating and restoring abandoned terraces. The winery's official history begins in 1968; Hauner renewed vineyards and local practices, also experimenting with techniques such as grape drying and fermentation control. The modern winery was built in the 1980s in Lingua. After the founder's death in 1996, management passed to the next generation, which has maintained a focus on Malvasia and local identity; the company website reports a significant production of Malvasia, with about 50,000 bottles cited for this wine.
Production philosophy
Production is based on recovering the local viticultural heritage and on integrating tradition and innovation: adherence to Aeolian practices combined with modern winemaking controls. The winery emphasizes its island origin, the artisanal care of its wines and its visual identity: many labels reproduce works by Carlo Hauner himself. The winery also produces other typical local products, such as capers from Salina.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located on the island of Salina in the Aeolian Islands. The vineyards are cultivated on terraces carved into the volcanic rock; the Mediterranean climate and maritime influence, together with volcanic soils, contribute to the mineral and aromatic character of the wines, particularly the Malvasia delle Lipari.
