Region: South of England (West Sussex, Hampshire e Kent)
Country: Inghilterra, Regno Unito
Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
Pioneering producer of English sparkling wines made by the Traditional Method Grapes exclusively estate-grown: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier. Vineyards concentrated in West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent Extended lees aging International recognition, including awards at the International Wine Challenge.
Winery history
Its history began in the late 1980s as a pioneering project to produce English sparkling wines using the grape varieties traditionally used in Champagne. Over time the winery expanded to operate across multiple sites in southern England and has gained international recognition for the quality of its wines. Today it is led by a team of winemakers and by an ownership that has developed production on its own vineyards.
Production philosophy
Vineyard and winemaking practices aimed at maintaining total control over the raw material: estate-grown grapes, parcel-by-parcel harvest and separate vinification of lots to preserve the characteristics of each cru; fermentations and secondary in-bottle fermentation carried out using the traditional method, with extended aging on the lees to develop complexity and structure.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards distributed across southern England, with most concentrated in West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. Soils are predominantly chalk and greensand, with favourable exposures that support slow ripening in a cool climate.
Awards and recognitions
Documented recognitions include major wins at the International Wine Challenge, as well as repeated international awards such as English Wine Producer of the Year, according to company materials and industry sources.
