The Verdicchio di Matelica DOC Terra di Mezzo from Monacesca offers a measured, recognisable profile for those seeking a fresh white. In the glass it shows a clear straw colour; the nose reveals impressions of white-fleshed fruit, white flowers and light herbal notes, with a discreet mineral thread that supports the bouquet without overwhelming it. On the palate it balances lively acidity and medium body, with fruity returns and a pleasant, never intrusive, persistence.

It is a versatile wine, suitable with light dishes such as seafood starters, fish soups, grilled vegetables and fresh cheeses; it also works well as an aperitif glass. Recommended serving temperature around 10–12 °C. Store in a cool, sheltered place; to best enjoy its freshness, consume within a few years of purchase. More detailed technical information is provided by the producer Monacesca. Its understated elegance also makes it appropriate for informal occasions in both summer and winter.
The winery

Fattoria La Monacesca – Winery in Marche (province of Macerata)

Discover the story and wines of Fattoria La Monacesca.

Winery located in the Contrada Monacesca area of Matelica (MC). Producer of Verdicchio di Matelica; viticulture in the area since 1966, run by the Cifola family.
Region: Marche (province of Macerata)
Country: Italy
Winery history
The name comes from a Benedictine monks' settlement in the contrada. The family wine activity is documented since 1966: the estate was started by Casimiro Cifola and later continued by his son Aldo Cifola.
Production philosophy
To enhance the territory and the native Verdicchio. Cellar work focuses on preserving organoleptic properties (controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks) and balancing tradition with innovation; strong emphasis on quality and bottle evolution.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the Upper Esino Valley (Matelica area). Predominantly clay and calcareous fossil soils; continental climate with Mediterranean sun; vineyards around 400 m asl giving the local Verdicchio acidity, freshness and minerality.
