Winery history Grand Calcaire

Grand Calcaire is the result of a collaboration between cousins Dominique Gruhier and Laurent Delaunay. Both come from families with a long winemaking tradition in Burgundy; they launched the label in late 2021 and introduced an initial range based on parcel selection, with the musts vinified at the Domaine de l’Abbaye du Petit Quincy.

Production philosophy

Pursuit of purity and precision: selection of "cool terroir" parcels with soils of Kimmeridgian marl and limestone, to produce Chardonnay that express tension, minerality and freshness.

Terroir and vineyards

Chablis area: vineyards on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone marls that impart mineral character and the wines' typical acidity.

Awards and recognitions

Critic notes included: Chablis Grand Calcaire 2022 received 90 points from Wine Enthusiast; the cuvée Chablis Vaucoupin 2021 scored 90/100 in Neal Martin’s review.
