The Planus IGT from Dorigati winery is a distinguished example of red wine, a true jewel of Italian viticulture. This label comes from the fertile lands of Trentino-Alto Adige, a region renowned for its ability to provide ideal climatic conditions and soils that enhance the characteristics of the grapes used.

Primarily made from Merlot grapes, the Planus IGT is characterized by its depth of aromas and complex structure. On the nose, it is possible to discern notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and plum, which harmoniously blend with hints of chocolate and delicate spices, also thanks to a skillful aging in French oak barriques that adds nuances of vanilla and toasting.

On the palate, the wine is rich and enveloping. It enters softly, but is well supported by robust yet well-polished tannins that promise excellent longevity and aging potential. The balance between acidity and alcohol is admirable, with a flavor persistence that leaves a pleasant and lasting aftertaste.

The Planus IGT pairs wonderfully with elaborate red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses. It is also an excellent choice for special occasions or as a meditation wine due to its complexity and elegance.

Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C to fully appreciate the range of aromas and flavors. With Planus IGT, Dorigati promises a unique sensory experience and represents an authentic expression of the terroir of this privileged area of Trentino.

Winery history
The Dorigati family has been active in Mezzocorona for generations: the company traces its origins to 1858 and developed as a family-run business dedicated to viticulture in the Piana Rotaliana. The current premises at Via Dante 5 date back to the early 20th century, with later extensions and a winery renovation completed in 1998. In the 1980s the winery also launched the Methius project, a Trento DOC Metodo Classico reserve.
Production philosophy
The winery focuses on territorial identity and quality: traditional viticultural practices, cluster selection and winemaking designed to bring out the character of the individual vineyards of the Piana Rotaliana and the pedemontane hills. It produces both 'classic' wines tied to the territory and Metodo Classico sparkling wines, with attention to artisanal process management.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are concentrated in the Piana Rotaliana and on the foothill slopes of Mezzocorona, with some plots associated with specific crus, such as the 'Bagolari' vineyard. Some Traditional Method cuvées come from hilly areas such as Faedo and Pressano; the soils include fluvial and glacial deposits typical of the area.
