In 1988 the Gaja family expanded its possessions with the purchase of 12 hectares of vineyard in one of the most suitable positions in Serralunga, which they would rename Sperss. This Piedmontese term in dialect means nostalgia, the one felt by the founder Giovanni Gaja for childhood memories linked to Serralunga.

The Sperss vineyard is located in the municipality of Serralunga. The fermentation and maturation of the grapes, blending Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes, lasts approximately three weeks, followed by aging for 30 months in wood.

Upon olfactory examination it denotes a dark and austere bouquet, defined by classic mineral aromas of the Serralunga terroir, mixed with fruity notes of black cherry, rhubarb, goudron, liquorice and truffle. In the glass it appears ruby red with garnet reflections. When tasted it is consistent and with austere olfactory references, with a full and decisive body, and a dense and complex texture.

Perfect in pairing with platters of well-matured cheeses, game, roasts, grilled and stewed meats. A label that lends itself well to being sipped alone, to savor and fully enjoy the organoleptic characteristics of this important red intended for connoisseurs and great enthusiasts.
