The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG "Costasera" by Masi is an icon of Veneto viticulture, known for its majestic structure and intense aromas. This wine is produced with a careful selection of native grapes, including Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, sourced from the western slopes of the Valpolicella hills. This area is particularly valuable for its exposure to the late afternoon sun, which contributes to the optimal ripening of the grapes.
Costasera undergoes the traditional drying process, where the grapes are left to dry out for several months before fermentation, thus concentrating the sugars and aromas. Subsequently, the wine ages in large oak barrels for at least 24 months, followed by further refining in the bottle. The result is an Amarone of extraordinary depth and complexity.
Visually, Costasera presents a deep ruby red color, tending towards garnet with aging. The nose offers a rich bouquet with notes of ripe fruit like cherries and plums, along with nuances of sweet spices, chocolate, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is robust and velvety, with an excellent balance between acidity and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long-lasting and harmonious, with an aftertaste of nuts and cocoa.
Ideal to accompany rich dishes such as braised meats, stews, and aged cheeses, the Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG "Costasera" by Masi is also perfect as a meditative wine. Serve at a temperature of 18-20°C to enhance all its aromas and complexity.
