Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC - Giarola is a red wine of great charm and complexity, produced in the prestigious wine-growing area of Valpolicella, in Veneto. This wine is the result of a second fermentation and maceration of the pomace from Amarone and Recioto, which endows Ripasso di Giarola with an extraordinary richness of aromas and a more structured palate compared to traditional Valpolicella.
Giarola's Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC displays an intense, almost impenetrable ruby red color. On the nose, it offers a complex and enveloping bouquet with prominent notes of ripe cherries, plums, sweet spices such as vanilla, and hints of tobacco and chocolate, derived from wood aging.
On the palate, it is robust and well-balanced, with a nice harmony between acidity and soft tannins. The richness of the fruit pleasantly combines with spicy influences and a slight balsamic note. This wine is ideal for pairing with dishes of red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its structure also makes it perfect for sipping alone as a contemplative wine.
