Veltliner is one of the most important white wines of the Cantina Valle Isarco. A vine native to central Europe, which particularly in Austria gives excellent wines, but has found itself at ease in the cool climate and stony terroir of the Valle Isarco.
The Gruner Veltliner of the Cantina Valle Isarco was born from the will of a group of small winemakers, who following the Second World War united their estates to form a cooperative. Today Eisacktaler Kellerei has become one of the most important companies in the valley, with a large production of excellent quality wines, making use of the classic white grape varieties of South Tyrol.
The Gruner Veltliner vineyards are grown at an altitude between 400 and 750 m a.s.l., on soils rich in gravel and alluvial and moraine pebbles. The climate is particularly suitable with notable temperature ranges, fresh and breezy, an ideal situation for perfect ripening of the grapes. After harvesting, the berries are delicately pressed, and the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature; it then stops for a few months, always in steel.
Veltliner is a delicate wine, with fine and subtle aromas. It has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. Extremely refined and elegant, with particular floral scents of wild flowers and mountain herbs.
An extremely pleasant sip, very satisfying and elegant. Excellent to serve in combination with fish-based dishes, white meats and medium-aged cheeses.
