Pinot bianco - IGP Venezia Giulia - family collection - Ronco dei Tassi

Count La Tour of Capriva brought the first cuttings of Pinot Bianco to the Collio Goriziano (then Austrian Friuli) at the end of the 19th century. The old people of the area still knew it by the name of white Burgundy, in the 1863 catalog it was mentioned with this annotation: "variety cultivated in Lestizza for more than 20 years, the fruit of which produces exquisite wine". Today it is among the greatest symbols of the Collio.

The Collio hills of Eocene origin are mostly made up of marl and sandstone and are the most congenial soils to enhance the best qualitative characteristics of this variety of grapes. The vineyard is about 30 years old, trained in the Guyot system with South/South-East exposure, and is cultivated in one of the highest and most well-exposed areas of Mount Quarin and in the hills around the town of Cormons.

The harvest is carried out manually in the first ten days of September,
the grapes are then crushed, destemmed and placed in the pneumatic press, where they receive a soft pressing. The must obtained is cooled and statically decanted, in order to separate the clearest part from the lees. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in 225 liter oak barriques, with aging on noble lees for 12 months.

When poured, it appears with a beautiful intense straw yellow color. The nose expresses a very varied bouquet, full of facets, with fruity notes of white peach, perfectly ripe pear and green apple. Inebriating aromas of quince jelly and flowers, accompanied by mineral notes of flint.

The perfect fruity-savory combination is also reflected on the palate, with a compact structure and an elegant creaminess, which makes the aftertaste very aromatic, persistent and distinctly mineral.

Excellent as an aperitif, it pairs perfectly with appetizers, broths and soups, but above all with fish-based dishes.
