Valpolicella DOC Superiore Vigne Alte - Zeni is born in the hills of the Valpolicella Classica, a territory suited to native grapes such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. This wine, bottled after aging for at least one year, expresses the balanced maturity of vineyards located at an elevated position, from which the name “Vigne Alte” derives.

The bouquet opens with scents of ripe cherry, black cherry, and light spices, accompanied by a pleasant herbal note and the typical bitter almond characteristic of the denomination. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with soft but firm tannins, a enveloping structure, and a finish with subtle balsamic hints. The sapidity and balance make this Valpolicella Superiore an ideal companion for rustic dishes such as boiled meats, braised dishes, or aged cheeses.

Zeni, a historic winery of the area, masterfully interprets this emblematic grape variety, giving the wine finesse and personality that tell the unique terroir of Valpolicella.

Winery history
The winery originated in the village of Grumo and is historically linked to the Zeni family; the company's website states that the winery was founded by Roberto Zeni in 1882. Production and management have been passed down through several generations of the family, and over the years the winery expanded its operations to include traditional-method sparkling wines and an artisan distillery. In the 2000s the winery began a shift toward more natural practices and a gradual conversion to organic viticulture.
Production philosophy
A commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and respect for the land, combined with a family tradition: the winery aims to showcase indigenous grape varieties and organic practices to produce wines expressive of the terroir, while maintaining carefully managed ageing techniques.
Terroir and vineyards
Based in the Piana Rotaliana and colline avisane. The vineyards include both the alluvial plain of the Noce/Adige and slopes with Dolomitic soils. Among the crus is Maso Nero, which is also used for sparkling wine production and aging.
