Il Torrione di Petrolo represents an excellent example of how a wine can best express its terroir of origin, reflecting the unique characteristics of the Val d'Arno di Sopra area in Tuscany. This wine is primarily produced from Sangiovese grapes, with a small contribution from other local varieties, following a philosophy aimed at enhancing the indigenous identity of the grape variety.
The vinification of Torrione follows traditional methods, with prolonged maceration of the skins and fermentation that takes place in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit. Subsequently, the wine matures in oak barrels, a process that provides structure and complexity without overpowering the varietal characteristics of Sangiovese.
Visually, Torrione presents a deep ruby red color, with reflections tending towards garnet with aging. On the nose, it offers a rich bouquet of ripe red fruit aromas, such as cherries and plums, along with spicy and tobacco notes, enriched by a faint vanilla touch due to the aging in wood.
On the palate, it is robust and well-structured, with good acidity that balances the sensation of alcoholic warmth. The tannins are present but well-integrated, making the sip harmonious and persistent. The finish is long and leaves a pleasant feeling of cleanliness in the mouth, with returns of fruit and spices.
Torrione is a wine that can be enjoyed on its own or as an accompaniment to robust dishes such as roasts, game, or aged cheeses. It also has notable aging potential, evolving well for several years in the cellar. This bottle is an excellent choice for lovers of Tuscan wines with character, who seek an authentic and high-quality product.
