The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG by Lilliano is a premier offering among the red wines of the Tuscan landscape, reflecting an oenological expertise deeply rooted in the tradition and culture of Italian wine. This wine is the result of a careful selection of the finest Sangiovese grapes, handpicked from the oldest vines of the estate located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region.

Visually, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione presents an intense ruby red color, which tends to garnet shades as it ages. The nose is invited on a complex aromatic journey, where initial notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and plum emerge, followed by hints of violet, tobacco, and dark spices, thanks also to the maturation in barriques which adds elegant touches of vanilla and leather.

On the palate, Lilliano's Chianti Classico Gran Selezione reveals a structured and well-balanced body, with a lively acidity typical of Sangiovese that superbly complements the tannic richness. This evolves into a long and persistent finish, leaving a lasting impression of harmony and complexity.

Ideal for pairing with rich dishes such as grilled red meats, game, and aged cheeses, this wine is also perfect for savoring alone, offering a complete sensory experience that enhances the qualities of the Chianti territory.

With an aging potential that can exceed 15 years, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG from Lilliano's winery is undoubtedly a prestigious choice for any amateur and collector's cellar.

Winery history
The village and estate of Lilliano have medieval origins; the property was acquired by the Berlingieri family in 1920 and wine bottling began with Princess Eleonora Ruspoli Berlingieri in 1958. The estate is currently managed by the brothers Giulio and Pietro Ruspoli, with Giulio in charge since the year indicated on the website.
Production philosophy
The estate aims to showcase the local area and Sangiovese, working to extract elegance and longevity from the wines through carefully controlled vinification, maturation in botti and tonneaux, and attentive vineyard management. The approach combines respect for the terroir with modern cellar techniques to produce balanced, long-lived wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in Chianti Classico, between Castellina in Chianti and Monteriggioni. The soils are predominantly "alberese", which tends to delay ripening, promoting acidity and aromaticity; the main vineyards cited are Le Piagge, Casina Sopra Strada and Vigna Catena. The estate also states that its total landholding extends over hundreds of hectares, with the vineyards reported as 40 hectares.
