Discover the story, territory and wines of Jacques Lassaigne.
Champagne producer based in Montgueux (Aube), led by Emmanuel Lassaigne, known for mineral blanc de blancs and a low-intervention vineyard approach (organic/biodynamic).
The Lassaigne family re-established vineyards in Montgueux in the second half of the 20th century; the domaine is commonly dated to the 1960s and grew into a small estate of a few hectares. Emmanuel Lassaigne took over the family estate in 1999 and has developed its international reputation by focusing on parcel-by-parcel winemaking, including fermentations in wood, and a vineyard management philosophy oriented toward organic and biodynamic practices. In some accounts, the historic commitment of his father Jacques to bringing back into cultivation the vineyards abandoned in the 1950s–60s is cited as the foundation of the current family project.
Production philosophy
Low intervention in the cellar and a strong focus on terroir: vineyard management following organic, biodynamic or integrative practices, manual work, hand-harvested grapes, parcel-by-parcel vinifications, controlled use of oak, and reduced technological interventions. The stated aim is to faithfully express the character of Chardonnay on the calcareous soils of Montgueux.
Terroir and vineyards
Montgueux — chalk hill a short distance from Troyes; a terroir often likened by specialists to the "Montrachet of Champagne" for its finesse.
Awards and recognitions
Critical recognition: Emmanuel Lassaigne listed among the top vignerons in industry rankings and publications.
