Winery history Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja)

Pieve Santa Restituta winery was founded by Roberto Bellini in 1974; in 1994 the estate was acquired by the Gaja family. The name comes from the ancient pieve at the centre of the estate, whose historical traces are very old and whose grounds have been cultivated with vines for centuries.

Production philosophy

Management focused on soil care and the protection of ampelographic heritage: vineyard restoration, use of compost to enhance soil fertility, and careful preservation of older vines. Production emphasizes Sangiovese, in keeping with the territorial characteristics of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.

Terroir and vineyards

Situated in the municipality of Montalcino, with vineyards on Eocene-origin hills facing south and southwest; at an altitude of approximately 320–350 metres above sea level. The area lies within the Brunello di Montalcino appellation, on the southwest side of the DOCG.
