Production using small steam-heated pot stills; the distillery predominantly uses unpeated malt for Edradour expressions and peated malt for the Ballechin line. Distillation and maturation take place on site in Pitlochry.

Distillation

Pot still (small batch pot stills)

Ageing

Maturation in oak casks using a variety of reconditioned casks and finishes (wine/port/sherry/ex-bourbon); experiments with different wood types for finishing.

Producer history Edradour

Edradour originated in the early 19th century as a small agricultural whisky production site; official records and historical accounts indicate the founding date as 1825. Over the 20th century ownership changed several times and in 2002 the distillery was acquired by Signatory Vintage, which enhanced its single-bottle releases and maturation experiments.

Production philosophy

Preserve small-scale production methods and highlight the site's identity: Edradour focuses on traditional processing, limited editions and a strong territorial link, while pursuing maturation experiments in different woods without giving up its artisanal character.
