Papalin originated as a blend conceived by Luca Gargano in 2013, initially composed of rums from Cuba, Venezuela and a small share of Caroni. The brand was relaunched and developed under the La Maison & Velier umbrella from 2021 with a series of regional editions (Jamaica, Haiti, Réunion) and small batches; official La Maison & Velier materials describe Papalin as a project dedicated to assemblages and a "tropical dependent bottler".
Production philosophy
To highlight geographic assemblages and ageing in the place of production, working directly with partner distilleries to select and mature spirits in their vats/warehouses before bottling.
