Producer history Quinta de Carvalhas

The earliest written references to Quinta das Carvalhas date back to 1759. Over the centuries the property passed through several owners; official records indicate acquisitions and vineyard reconversions in the 19th and 20th centuries (including significant interventions after the phylloxera crisis). Today the estate is part of Real Companhia Velha's portfolio and is one of the Douro's most emblematic properties, with a long tradition in the production of Port and Douro DOC wines.

Production philosophy

Strong focus on terroir and the conservation of local ampelographic heritage: the Quinta values old vines and indigenous varieties, combines traditional viticultural techniques with modern technologies, and aims to express the diversity of soils and exposures across its territory.

Territory

Located on the left bank of the Douro River, opposite the village of Pinhão, the estate extends across slopes with vineyards at various altitudes (approximately 80–500 m). The territory belongs to the Cima Corgo subregion of the Douro and hosts historic vineyards with numerous native varieties.
