The Barolo DOCG "Gattera" produced by Bovio Winery is one of the most authentic and sophisticated expressions of the Nebbiolo grape, positioning itself in a high-quality bracket thanks to unique winemaking techniques and meticulous grape selection. This wine is produced in the Langhe, one of the most prestigious areas of Piedmont, renowned worldwide for its Barolo.

Bovio's Barolo "Gattera" is cultivated in vineyards located on limestone and marl soils, which contribute to giving the wine a robust tannic structure and a distinctive aromatic complexity. Aged for at least 38 months, with 18 months in oak barriques, the Barolo "Gattera" achieves a sublime balance between power and finesse through the wood, flawlessly integrating with the fruity and spicy notes of Nebbiolo.

Visually, the wine presents a deep garnet red color. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits emerge, mixed with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and a slight floral touch. On the palate, the wine is rich and complex, with a well-developed tannic texture that promises excellent aging potential. The finish is long and persistent, with an aftertaste that recalls spices and undergrowth.

Perfect to serve with robust dishes such as roasts, game, and aged cheeses, Bovio's Barolo "Gattera" is a wine that can be enjoyed immediately, but will reach its best expression after a few years of aging in the cellar. Ideal for enthusiasts of Piedmontese wines looking for a Barolo with a strong and distinctive character.

Country: Italia
Founded: 1976
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Chardonnay
Family-owned winery operating for multiple generations. Vineyards distributed across the historic crus of La Morra and Castiglione Falletto. Portfolio featuring various Barolo labels as well as Nebbiolo Langhe, Barbera and Dolcetto. Emphasis on parcel-based vinification and traditional methods. Renovated tasting room and wine shop open to the public.
Winery history
The Bovio family has been in La Morra for generations. In the 1950s and 1960s Alessandro Bovio farmed grapes on a small scale. In the 1970s Gianfranco renovated the winery, and in the following years the estate began selling Nebbiolo and Barolo. Since then the estate has expanded and modernized the winery, and management has gradually passed to the next generations.
Production philosophy
The winemaking approach is founded on respect for tradition and the land: each vineyard is vinified separately to express the characteristics of the individual cru, with artisanal care in the vineyard and cellar and aging in large casks where appropriate. Attention is focused on patience, precise management of the parcels and fidelity to the character of the Langhe.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards located in La Morra and partly in Castiglione Falletto, with estate crus designated as Annunziata, Rocchettevino, Parussi, Gattera and Arborina. The estate reports approximately ten hectares of vineyards distributed across the principal MGAs of the Langhe, with vinifications carried out separately by parcel.
Awards and recognitions
Bovio's wines have received high ratings from international critics: in particular, their Barolo expressions have earned high scores from James Suckling, Robert Parker and Wine Spectator across several vintages.
