Pairing Pairs with substantial/main dishes
The Barolo DOCG "Pressenda" from Marziano Abbona shows a measured, defined character that favors expression over showiness. In the glass it has a ruby color with garnet highlights; on the nose there are impressions of ripe red fruit, dried petals, subtle spice and a slight earthy undertone. The palate is supported by present but well-integrated tannins, leading to a flavor progression focused on balance and structure rather than aromatic excess.

It pairs naturally with red meat dishes, braises or rich sauces, and with aged cheeses; combinations with mushrooms or rustic flavors also work well. Serve at around 16–18 °C and consider opening the bottle ahead of time to allow the aromas to develop. When kept in a small cellar it may gain additional nuances over a few years, while remaining enjoyable if consumed carefully now.

Winery history
Family origins date to the early 20th century; key figures include Celso Abbona and later his sons Marziano and Enrico, who turned the family farm into a winery and expanded the vineyards. Mara Abbona joined in the 1990s; the new cellar in Borgata San Luigi was inaugurated in 2006. The estate has pursued experimentation (e.g. Viognier “Cinerino” since 1996) and began producing Metodo Classico in 2007.
Production philosophy
Emphasis on traditional expression of the terroir and single-vineyard crus combined with selective experimentation. The winery favors traditional winemaking with attention to vineyard and cellar quality; the Casaret technical sheet notes fermentation with indigenous yeasts and stainless-steel aging. They also invest in hospitality and winery tours.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquartered in Dogliani (Borgata San Luigi) in the Langhe; vineyards around Dogliani (e.g. the Bricco Doriolo cru) and holdings in the hills of Monforte d’Alba and Novello. The Casaret comes from a vineyard contiguous to the cellar (San Luigi).
