The Boggina C Riserva, produced by the acclaimed Petrolo winery, is an exemplary showcase of enological sophistication from the Tuscany region, the heart of Italy's wine country known for its high-quality wines. This wine stands out for its pure composition of Sangiovese, the iconic grape of the region, which is cultivated using organic methods and carefully aged to enhance its unique qualities.

The Boggina C Riserva demonstrates Petrolo's mastery in crafting wines that reflect the specific terroir of the Val d'Arno di Sopra area. The grapes, carefully selected from the best vines, are hand-harvested to ensure that only the ripest and healthiest fruits are used. Fermentation takes place in cement containers, thus preserving the fruit’s purity and freshness, followed by around 18 months of aging in barriques, bestowing the wine with remarkable complexity without overpowering its varietal notes.

From an organoleptic standpoint, the Boggina C Riserva presents itself with a deep ruby red color. On the nose, it offers a complex and intriguing bouquet with hints of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, enriched by nuances of sweet spices, leather, and a subtle balsamic undertone. On the palate, the wine expresses elegance and power, perfectly balancing its tannic structure with fresh acidity. The finish is long and persistent, marked by beautiful aromatic clarity and a lingering aftertaste that beckons another sip.

This wine is ideal for pairing with grilled red meats, elaborate game dishes, or aged cheeses. A true gem for Sangiovese enthusiasts, the Boggina C Riserva is an excellent choice for those seeking a wine capable of evolving beautifully over time, promising favorable evolution for many years to come.

Winery history

Among its historic vineyards are Bòggina and Vigna Galatrona, the estate’s first Merlot planting, documented as a vineyard from 1990 and forming the basis of the Galatrona label produced since 1994. Over the years the estate has progressively reoriented its production practices and enhanced individual parcels to produce top-quality wines.
Production philosophy
The estate states a strong connection to the land and a respectful approach to nature: low-yield production, attentiveness to the soil and measured interventions in the vineyard and cellar. Petrolo emphasizes a poetic vision of wine as a transformation of nature and favors agricultural practices oriented toward quality.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Mercatale Valdarno on the ridges at the southeastern edge of Chianti Classico, the estate extends across natural terraces beneath the Torre di Galatrona. The vineyards are situated between 250 and 500 metres above sea level on soils characterized by layers of galestro, sandstone and alberese, conditions that contribute to the identity of the wines.
