Gemini is a portentous red born from the bunches of the best vineyards present since 1993; a cru and a reserve at the same time. The harvest has beginning in October, the grapes are harvested by hand after careful selection and then delicately de-stemmed. This Brunello di Montalcino has the privilege of fermenting and maturing in truncated conical vats of about 70 hl dedicated to it; always within the same, alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation and finally aging is carried out, which generally follows a period never less than 36 months.

A wine with a strong personality that dresses the glass with an intense and at the same time bright ruby red color. It offers an ample and persistent bouquet to the nose characterized by elegant notes of fruit, marasca cherry in alcohol, nuances of dried tobacco on a background that recalls sweet spices. A sip that quicks long and velvety tannins, well supported by a crunchy acidity that bodes well for the excellent aging capacity.

On the palate a juicy and satisfying finish remains, characterized by a savory and mineral sip, which stimulates salivation and recalls the combination with important foods based on red meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses.

An excellent glass to sip and savor even alone to fully enjoy the organoleptic qualities.

Cantina La Serena – Winery in Toscana

Discover the story and wines of Cantina La Serena.

A Montalcino (Siena) winery run by the Mantengoli family, focused on pure Sangiovese and typical Montalcino wines, with an organic approach to vineyard management.
Region: Toscana
Country: Italia
Founded: 1988
Grapes: Sangiovese
Brunello di Montalcino produced from 100% Sangiovese. Vineyards managed using organic practices; winery designed with sustainability in mind. Family-run winery; production under the La Serena label began in the late 1980s.
Winery history
The vineyards have belonged to the Mantengoli family since the early 20th century. Production under the La Serena label began in the late 1980s, when the younger family members developed the estate as a producer of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. Over the years the estate has expanded its vineyard area and established a production focused on the local Sangiovese. The winery has recently joined the Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti.
Production philosophy
The estate adopts an approach rooted in respect for the soil and minimal intervention: vineyards are managed according to organic principles and winery practices are focused on sustainability. The emphasis is on expressing the terroir and on meticulous care from vine to bottle.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Montalcino, the vineyards are planted on tuff-, marl-, clay- and sand-rich soils on slopes with a wide range of elevations; some descriptions report an elevation of around 400 m above sea level and well-drained soils that promote the expression of the local Sangiovese.
