The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG from Le Macioche represents a Tuscan enological excellence, born from the precious Sangiovese grapes cultivated on the gentle hills of Montalcino, in a terroir rich in tradition and unique pedoclimatic characteristics. This wine is distinguished by prolonged aging, which enhances its structure and complexity, giving it a harmonious aromatic depth.

In the glass, it appears with an intense ruby red color, evolving over time towards garnet tones. On the nose, it releases refined aromas of ripe red fruits, notes of spices, tobacco, and light balsamic nuances. On the palate, the full body and silky tannins merge in a perfect balance between softness and vigor, leaving a persistent and enveloping finish.

Ideal to pair with structured red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses, this Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is the masterful expression of a territory and superior quality viticulture.

Discover the story and wines of Le Macioche.

Small estate in Montalcino dedicated to the production of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, now part of the Famiglia Cotarella project. Wines are based on Sangiovese Grosso grown in vineyards at about 450 m above sea level.
Region: Tuscany (Montalcino)
Country: Italy
Grapes: Sangiovese Grosso
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG produced exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso. Vineyard of approximately 3.5 hectares, situated at 450 m above sea level. Acquired and relaunched by the Famiglia Cotarella as of the 2017 vintage. Vine training: Guyot; hand-harvested. The official technical sheet is available in the materials provided by Famiglia Cotarella.
Winery history
The estate takes its name from the roots of the strawberry tree found in the woods surrounding the property. Originally founded by the Mazzocchi family, the estate was acquired by the Cotarella family at the start of the 2017 harvest, from which point production has been released under the Cotarella name and incorporated into their winemaking projects.
Production philosophy
Production focused on expressing the Montalcino terroir and on careful work in the vineyard and cellar; available sources note attention to agricultural practices and to an elegant interpretation of Sangiovese Grosso for Brunello.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards concentrated in the southern quadrant of Montalcino, in the Sant'Antimo area, facing south-south-east at about 450 metres above sea level. The soils are rich in marl and limestone and feature a good stony component, conditions that favour a long and balanced ripening of the grapes.
Awards and recognitions
Le Macioche vintages have received recognition and scores from industry publications and critics for several vintages; the official documentation lists awards and ratings for vintages such as 2010, 2011, 2013 and later.
