The Chardonnay Friuli Grave DOC produced by the winery I Magredi is an excellent example of the winemaking savoir-faire of Friuli Venezia Giulia, adhering to the controlled designation of origin. This white wine is admired for its freshness, elegance, and rich aromatic structure that defines it.

Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the clarity of its straw-yellow color with greenish highlights, typical of Chardonnay grapes grown in the gravelly and calcareous soils of the Grave area. On the nose, it offers an enchanting bouquet ranging from notes of white-fleshed fruits, such as peach and apple, to more floral and slightly vanilla nuances, thanks also to a subtle barrel aging that does not overshadow the fruit but integrates it with elegance.

On the palate, the Chardonnay Friuli Grave DOC by I Magredi stands out for its perfect balance between acidity and body. The freshness is well balanced by creaminess, with a persistent and pleasantly fruity aftertaste that invites another sip. This wine pairs beautifully with fish dishes, shellfish, and light appetizers, but it can also be enjoyed as an aperitif.

For sommeliers and enthusiasts, it is important to note that this Chardonnay best expresses the characteristics of the Friuli Grave terroir, making each sip a sensory journey through the region. The attentive agronomic management and meticulous vinification by I Magredi elevate this Chardonnay to a glaring example of Friulian oenological quality and excellence.

Winery history
The estate has long been linked to the Tombacco family: Otello Tombacco purchased it in 1968 and, in the late 1980s, Michelangelo Tombacco converted the mainly fruit-growing enterprise into a fully fledged winery. The first part of the cellar was constructed in 1990, and the facilities were expanded and modernized several times; since 2018 the site has been undertaking a project for a new production building. In March 2026 the estate was returned to the full control of Valdo Spumanti, which had already held a stake since 2018.
Production philosophy
The winery adopts an approach that combines tradition and innovation: a focus on quality, respect for the land and attention to environmental sustainability. In the vineyard, integrated pest management protocols are applied, and the company has invested in systems for energy production and in winery wastewater treatment.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Grave del Friuli, characterized by coarse alluvial soils and wide stretches of pebbles known as 'magredi'. This terroir, protected in many areas as a Special Area of Conservation, fosters pronounced diurnal temperature variation and the aromatic grapes typical of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
