Château Lafleur-Gazin, strategically positioned in the Pomerol appellation, is close to prestigious neighbors such as Château Lafleur and Château Gazin, from which it takes its name. This estate benefits from an exceptional terroir for viticulture, characterized by the classic combination of clay and gravel that defines the best sites in Pomerol. This privileged location allows Château Lafleur-Gazin to produce wines that reflect the essence and complexity of this renowned wine region.

The estate is known for its commitment to producing wines that are faithful expressions of their terroir, with a particular focus on the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grape varieties. Merlot, which dominates the blend, gives Lafleur-Gazin wines their typical softness and fruit richness, while Cabernet Franc adds structure, aromatic complexity and freshness. Together, these varieties create a harmonious balance, producing wines of great elegance and depth.

Winemaking at Château Lafleur-Gazin is managed with great attention and care, respecting the traditions of Pomerol, whilst incorporating modern techniques where they can improve the quality of the wine. After fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barrels for several months, a practice that not only helps integrate the wine with subtle notes of spice and toastiness, but also helps smooth out the tannins, making the wine more approachable in its youth while maintaining good aging potential.

Upon tasting, Château Lafleur-Gazin stands out for its rich aromatic bouquet, where ripe red and black fruits blend with notes of aromatic herbs, wet earth and a light spiciness, highlighting the complexity that Pomerol wines can offer. In the mouth, the wine is generous and layered, with a well-integrated tannic structure that supports a long aromatic persistence. The balance between lively acidity and fruit density ensures the wine remains fresh and inviting, with a long, satisfying finish.

Château Lafleur-Gazin is admired for its ability to combine power and elegance, offering a tasting experience that is both intense and refined. Ideal for pairing with rich dishes such as red meats, game and mature cheeses, this wine represents an excellent choice for those looking to explore the diversity and quality of Pomerol wines, offering excellent value for money within this coveted appellation.

Pomerol – Winery in Bordeaux (Libournais, Rive Droite)

Discover the story and wines of Pomerol.

Small, prestigious appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, renowned for its red wines based primarily on Merlot and for soils rich in iron oxides (the so-called "crasse de fer").
Region: Bordeaux (Libournais, Rive Droite)
Country: Francia
Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec (Pressac), Petit Verdot
Appellation exclusively dedicated to red wines. Predominantly Merlot, often blended with Cabernet Franc. Distinctive soils with "crasse de fer" that influence structure and aroma. A small but highly prestigious appellation with no official classification of crus.
Winery history
Wine region with ancient roots: vineyards have been present since Roman times, with significant development in the Middle Ages through the activity of local religious orders. Pomerol's modern reputation was consolidated between the 19th and 20th centuries; the area has been recognized as a distinct appellation and is included in the AOC regulations established in France.
Production philosophy
Production centered on terroir and on enhancing small parcels: many producers run relatively small estates, favoring practices that prioritize grape quality and the expression of the soil rather than high yields or formal classifications.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the Libournais near the River Isle, Pomerol is a plateau with heterogeneous soils: clays mixed with gravel and sand, and a subsoil rich in iron oxides. Its boundaries include the Barbanne stream to the north, and it lies adjacent to Saint-Émilion and Libourne.
