The "Collection 246" by Louis Roederer represents one of the most recent innovations of this historic Champagne house, known for its excellence and deep tradition in the production of high quality champagne. This particular cuvée marks an evolution in the way Louis Roederer approaches the creation of his champagnes, combining the mastery of blending with a renewed focus on the expression of terroir and freshness.

The "246" numbering refers to the 246th perpetual blend initiated by the winery, part of their new "collection" system, which replaces the "Brut Premier" label. This approach is based on a modified solera system begun in 2012, which integrates oak-matured reserve wines with fresh wines of the year, allowing Roederer to create a champagne with increased texture and complexity.

Visually, "Collection 246" displays a bright golden yellow color, with fine and persistent bubbles, a hallmark of Roederer's meticulous production methods and high quality.

On the nose, the champagne reveals a rich and multi-layered bouquet, with aromas of ripe fruit such as apples, pears and citrus nuances, enriched by notes of fresh yeast, toasted almond and a subtle minerality, which reflect the complexity deriving from both the base wine and from reserve wines.

In the mouth it offers a vibrant and energetic palate, characterized by a fresh acidity and a creamy texture. The flavors of fresh fruit blend with notes of toasted bread and brioche, typical of aging on the yeasts. The finesse of the bubbles and the balance of the wine culminate in a long and clean finish, with a persistence that invites another sip.

The "Collection 246" by Louis Roederer is extremely versatile at the table, suitable as an aperitif or paired with a variety of dishes. It goes beautifully with seafood appetizers, delicate fish dishes, sushi and sashimi, or with poultry or white meat dishes. Its freshness and complexity also make it an excellent companion for slightly spicy dishes or with a delicate creamy component.

The "Collection 246" is a clear example of how Louis Roederer continues to innovate and push the boundaries of champagne production, while maintaining a strong connection to the tradition and quality that has made this house one of the most respected in the world of champagne .

Discover the story and wines of Champagne Louis Roederer.

Champagne house based in Reims, renowned for its prestige cuvée Cristal and for direct control over much of its fruit through estate-owned vineyards. Strong commitment to organic and biodynamic practices.
Region: Champagne
Country: Francia
Founded: 1776
Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier
Cristal: a prestige cuvée created in 1876, the symbol of the house. Approximately 240 hectares of estate vineyards, distributed across 410 parcels in the main terroirs of Champagne. Parcel-by-parcel approach to winemaking and extended maturation in the cellar. A well-established commitment to organic and biodynamic practices; significant portions of the vineyard have been converted to organic and biodynamic farming. Annual production of approximately 3.5 million bottles, with a broad international presence.
Winery history
The house dates back to the 18th century: the business began as a small négociant and over time was inherited and renamed by Louis Roederer. In the 19th century the maison consolidated its position in foreign markets and in 1876 created its flagship cuvée, Cristal, at the request of Tsar Alexander II. During the 20th century and in recent years the family continued to expand the vineyards and the group also acquired other international wine estates.
Production philosophy
Priority is given to grape quality and respect for the land: parcel-by-parcel winemaking, extended cellar ageing, and a growing focus on sustainable viticulture. In recent decades the estate has begun converting to organic and biodynamic practices to enhance the terroir and biodiversity.
Terroir and vineyards
Estate-owned vineyards spread across the Champagne Grands Crus, notably the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs; headquarters and principal winery in Reims.
