The story
The Francoli family's production has alpine roots, but the modern business consolidated when Luigi Francoli moved to Ghemme (NO) and established the company: sources indicate the family's involvement in distillation since the postwar period and the founding of the activity in Ghemme in 1951. The commercial line under the "Luigi Francoli" brand was launched later as a premium range dedicated to grappa.
Distillation
Steam distillation for the line, with use of both continuous columns for large-scale production and batch/boiling distillations in small alembics at group sites for special products.
Ageing
Wood ageing and cask-finish: some grappas are aged or complete maturation in ex-Barolo, ex-Port, ex-Bourbon or ex-Sherry barrels/barriques; Slavonia and Limousin oak casks are also used for specific expressions.
