The Etna DOC Rosso produced by Cottanera is an excellent interpretation of the volcanic territory of Etna, located in eastern Sicily. The Cottanera winery, with its dedication to enhancing native vines and respecting the territory, offers a wine that captures the authenticity and complexity of the volcanic soil.

This wine has a brilliant ruby red color, with garnet reflections that testify to its youth. On the nose, it offers an inviting and complex bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and blueberries, enriched by subtle spicy accents, aromatic herbs and a light mineral note, typical of the volcanic terroir.

In the mouth, Cottanera's Etna DOC Rosso reveals a pleasant freshness and good structure, with soft tannins and lively acidity that give the wine balance and harmony. The sip is elegant and persistent, with a clean and pleasantly spicy finish, which invites another tasting.

This versatile wine pairs well with a variety of Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine, such as pasta with meat sauces, roast pork, hard cheeses and mushroom dishes. Thanks to its freshness and complexity, it is also excellent to enjoy alone, in moments of relaxation and conviviality.

Winery history

Born and raised on the slopes of Etna, Cottanera is a family-run estate operating since 1960. Over the years the estate has focused on highlighting the contrade of Etna, aiming to translate the differences of each parcel into distinct, recognizable wines.

Production philosophy

The winery states an approach based on respect for the land and natural rhythms: many vineyard operations are carried out by hand. The winery values local knowledge, giving a central role to the work teams and the area's agricultural traditions, and aims for quality and faithful representation of the territory.
