Country: Italia
Founded: 2006
Grapes: Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasia, Trebbiano Toscano
Operational headquarters in Cortona, Tuscany. Production of Chianti Superiore DOCG and Tuscan wines. Use of Sangiovese alongside international varieties. Vin Santo produced from Malvasia and Trebbiano Toscano according to the Valdichiana tradition. A focused approach centered on quality, research and the connection between vineyard and terroir.
Winery history
The Santa Cristina winery is presented online as an enterprise deeply rooted in the Cortona area. The company's official documents state that the new facility was launched in 2006 to revive and renew the tradition of the namesake wine, whose first vintage dates back to 1946; since then production has evolved with a continued focus on quality, research and a dialogue between indigenous and international grape varieties.
Production philosophy
The production style emphasizes the connection between the vineyard, the terroir and human craftsmanship: careful attention to the vineyards, cellar practices designed to express freshness and typicity, and an approach that integrates local varieties with international grape varieties to create wines that are approachable yet distinctive.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate and vineyards are located on the plateau and the hills surrounding Cortona, in Tuscany, an area characterized by rolling landscapes between Siena and Perugia. The winery produces wines tied to the appellations and the soil and climatic characteristics of the territory.
