This Gewurztraminer DOC from Elena Walch comes from the Kastelaz designation in Alto Adige and shows an aromatic profile typical of the variety. On the nose there are floral and spicy notes, hints of white-fleshed fruit and exotic nuances such as lychee; on the palate it leans toward pleasant roundness, supported by fresh acidity and a balanced overall impression that invites drinking. The expression remains restrained and the character is recognizable without excess, suited to those seeking an aromatic but balanced white.

At the table it pairs with lightly spiced dishes, flavorful Asian cuisine, richer fish preparations and softer cheeses; it can also be enjoyed as a contemplative wine for lovers of intense aromas. It is recommended to serve it chilled but not overly cold, and to drink it within a moderate timeframe to appreciate its aromatic freshness. Those wishing to cellar it should check the label for specific guidance. Information on vintage, ageing or winemaking is as stated on the label.

Winery history
Trained as an architect, Elena Walch raised the international profile of her family estate by modernising vineyard and cellar practices and emphasising single-vineyard expression. In recent years leadership has been progressively assumed by her daughters Julia and Karoline (fifth generation).
Production philosophy
Strongly terroir-driven approach: emphasis on single 'Vigna' sites, manual vineyard work, sustainability-oriented practices and careful cellar ageing (e.g. French barriques and extended bottle ageing).
Terroir and vineyards
Estate and vineyards located in Alto Adige/Südtirol (Termeno/Tramin, Caldaro). Calcareous and varied soils; climate combining summer warmth with cool Dolomite winds. The producer cites Vigna Castel Ringberg as a single vineyard of about 20 hectares; Vigna Kastelaz is a steep terraced site above Tramin.
