The Gramolere Barolo DOCG 2021 from Fratelli Alessandria displays a decisive yet measured character, typical of a well-expressed Nebbiolo. On the nose ripe red fruits, rose and violet petals emerge, accompanied by light earthy and forest-floor notes that add depth; a hint of fine spice integrates with restrained minerality.

On the palate the sip is solid, supported by a tannic structure that is well-defined but still young, balanced by a fresh acidity that keeps the wine taut and lifted to a persistent finish. A wine to enjoy after a short period of bottle rest or to open with a few hours of decanting to soften the tannins; it lends itself both to aging and to more immediate drinking occasions. Pairs with roasted and braised meats, structured ragùs and aged cheeses; serve around 16–18 °C to appreciate its balance and aromatic nuances. A frank, essential Barolo with good personality and character.

Region: Piemonte
Country: Italia
Founded: 1830
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Freisa, Pelaverga (Pelaverga piccolo), Favorita
Historic Verduno winery operating since 1830. Estate-owned vineyards spread across the crus of Verduno and Monforte. Vinifies exclusively estate-grown grapes, with a strong focus on indigenous grape varieties. The range includes several Barolo, Verduno Pelaverga "Speziale", Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba. Family-run operation with a long local tradition.
Winery history
Family-run for generations, the winery has been in Verduno since the early 19th century. The main building is an 18th-century house adjacent to the historic centre; the family has continued winemaking, maintaining a family-sized operation and management, and preserving the local tradition of producing and bottling wines of the Langhe.
Production philosophy
The winery prioritizes its connection to the territory: it focuses primarily on native grape varieties, produces wine exclusively from estate-grown grapes, and maintains an approach that combines respect for traditional practices, artisanal care, and attention to oenological and agronomic innovations.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the crus of Verduno and Monforte d'Alba. The area's microclimate and the calcareous soils of the Langhe hills shape the character and elegance of the wines, particularly the Nebbiolo/Barolo of Verduno.
Awards and recognitions
Several of the winery's wines have received awards.
