This 1993 Barolo Grappa from Marolo's Le Grandi Riserve shows the character expected of a well-managed vintage distillate: complexity and great finesse. It opens with a mature bouquet, where dried fruit and notes of fig and raisin are evident, accompanied by hints of leather, sweet tobacco and delicate spices; the aromatic tapestry is deeply evolved yet remains elegant, without excess. The profile is soft and enveloping, with warmth present but well integrated into the structure.

The tasting is restrained and long: the progression is warm but balanced, with returns of the fruity notes and a slightly balsamic accent that cleans the palate. The persistence is satisfying, with a finish that leans toward dry sweetness rather than sugariness, making it suitable for after-dinner contemplation or paired with dark chocolate and aged cheeses. Serve slightly chilled in a tasting glass to appreciate its richness and the subtle weave of aromas.
