The Comtesse Albariño by Marqués de Murrieta represents the excellence and refinement of the Albariño grape variety, an authentic expression of the Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P.) Rías Baixas, in Galicia, Spain. Marqués de Murrieta, one of Spain's most historic and respected wineries, known for its Rioja wines, extends its winemaking mastery to Galicia, capturing the essence of this grape variety in a wine that is synonymous with freshness, complexity and elegance.

Wine Profile: La Comtesse Albariño stands out for its bright straw yellow color, with greenish reflections that announce its liveliness and freshness. On the nose, the wine is immediately aromatic and inviting, with intense aromas of white pulp fruits such as green apple and peach, citrus notes, floral nuances and a subtle mineral touch that recalls the sea breeze, typical of wines produced near the 'Ocean.

In the mouth, La Comtesse demonstrates extraordinary freshness, supported by a lively but balanced acidity, which gives the wine extraordinary drinkability. The flavors of fresh fruit mix with notes of aromatic herbs and minerals, in a complex palate that ends with a long and persistent finish, leaving a sensation of cleanliness and refinement.

Gastronomic Pairings: Thanks to its freshness and aromatic complexity, La Comtesse Albariño by Marqués de Murrieta is an extremely versatile wine at the table. It pairs perfectly with fish and seafood dishes, seafood risottos, light appetizers and vegetable dishes. It is also the ideal accompaniment for Asian cuisine, where its citrus notes and freshness can expertly balance the spiciness of the dishes.

La Comtesse Albariño is a masterful example of how Marqués de Murrieta, while rooted in the winemaking tradition of Rioja, is also capable of successfully interpreting other terroirs and grape varieties, confirming its role as a pioneer and innovator in the Spanish wine world. This wine not only celebrates the quality of the Albariño grape but also offers a tasting experience that invites you to discover the oenological riches of Galicia.

Winery history
The winery traces its origins to Don Luciano de Murrieta, who introduced Bordeaux techniques to Rioja and began exporting its bottles. The estate and the famous Castillo de Ygay lie at the heart of the winery’s history. Ownership passed to the Cebrián-Sagarriga family in the 1980s, who have invested in the restoration and modernization of the facilities while preserving its traditional identity.
Production philosophy
Rigorous attention to the vineyard, comprehensive quality control beginning at Finca Ygay, and a pursuit of balance between tradition and innovation: winemaking aimed at elegance and aging potential.
