This 1996 vintage Armagnac from La Licorne, packaged in its characteristic wooden case, presents an elegant and mature profile: on the nose it opens with aromas of dried fruit, spirit‑soaked plum and toasted hazelnut, accompanied by subtle hints of vanilla and sweet spices. The bouquet is compact without being heavy, suggesting a smoothness governed by a good balance between alcoholic warmth and residual freshness. The colour is amber and bright, announcing the concentration of the fruit and the overall harmony.

On the palate it is confirmed as rich and enveloping, with a soft texture and a fine depth that evolves towards fruity echoes and a long, clean finish. The impression is of a mature spirit, capable of giving pleasure both as a contemplative sipper and paired with desserts based on dark chocolate or with aged cheeses; serve in a tulip glass at room temperature to appreciate its complexity and persistence. Left to breathe for a few minutes it reveals further nuances and is well suited to be shared on slow, reflective occasions.
