La Licorne Armagnac Vintage 2001 from SASU Un Petit Grain offers a sober, refined profile, with the natural elegance of the harvest clearly expressed. On the nose there are nuances of ripe stone fruit, a trace of vanilla and a touch of toasted wood that does not overpower; the whole is harmonious and well balanced, with a spicy note that adds depth. The wooden box packaging underscores its character as a bottle to keep or give as a gift, showcasing the raw material without artifice.

On the palate you appreciate a soft but present structure: the alcoholic warmth is controlled, the progression is fluid and the finish leaves impressions of honey, light sweet tobacco and fine spices. A distillate for contemplation rather than casual drinking, it lends itself to a slow tasting in a tulip glass; it pairs well with dark chocolate, dry pastries and aged cheeses, or can satisfactorily close a meal as a digestif to be sipped slowly.
