The Ribolla Gialla of Ronchi di Cialla is an excellent representation of how an indigenous vine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia can be elevated to an expression of purity, elegance and territoriality. This winery, deeply rooted in the winemaking tradition of the region and known for its commitment to the rediscovery and valorization of local varieties, produces its Ribolla Gialla with grapes selected from vineyards located in the Cialla area, the beating heart of the DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli.

Ribolla Gialla is a vine that stands out for its lively acidity and its delicate aromas, characteristics that Ronchi di Cialla manages to capture and enhance thanks to sustainable agricultural practices and careful winemaking, which aims to preserve integrity and expressiveness of the fruit. The result is a wine that speaks of its terroir of origin with a clear and distinctive voice.

Visually, the Ribolla Gialla of Ronchi di Cialla has a bright straw yellow color, with greenish reflections that underline its freshness. On the nose, the wine releases an elegant and inviting aromatic bouquet, with notes of white pulp fruit, such as apple and pear, floral accents and a subtle minerality reminiscent of flint, testifying to the rich composition of the Cialla soil.

In the mouth, the wine expresses a wonderful harmony between acidity and body, with a freshness that pervades the palate and perfectly balances the fresh fruit flavors and mineral accents. The Ribolla Gialla from Ronchi di Cialla leaves a pleasantly clean and refreshing sensation, with a persistent finish that invites another sip.

Perfect as an aperitif or paired with light dishes, seafood appetizers, first courses based on vegetables and grilled fish, this wine also stands out for its gastronomic versatility, being capable of accompanying a wide variety of flavors without ever overpowering them.

Through its Ribolla Gialla, Ronchi di Cialla not only confirms its role as guardian of the winemaking traditions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia but also demonstrates how attention to quality, sustainability and respect for native varieties can give life to wines of exceptional finesse and pleasantness, true ambassadors of the territory.

Winery history
The Rapuzzi family founded the estate in 1970 in the small Cialla valley, restoring local vineyards and helping to save Schioppettino when the variety was nearly lost. In the 1970s and 1980s the winery perfected the recovery of vine cuttings, produced the first vintages of Schioppettino and received recognition that brought Cialla’s wines to international auctions. The denomination and boundaries of the Cialla cru were officially established by ministerial acts and regulations in subsequent years, consolidating the estate’s reputation as a custodian of Friulian indigenous varieties.
Production philosophy
The estate works exclusively with native grape varieties, favoring controlled yields, selective harvesting and minimal agronomic interventions. In the cellar, winemaking is kept as natural as possible and wines undergo extended ageing — including in wood — to achieve long-lived wines with a strong expression of terroir. Biodiversity protection and low-impact practices are integral to the production method.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located in the Cialla valley, a small hilly amphitheatre overlooking the Colli Orientali del Friuli, characterized by a tempered microclimate between the Adriatic Sea and the Julian Alps and by marly, well-stratified soils that favor the cultivation of local indigenous varieties. The area is officially recognized as the cru CIALLA for certain traditional varieties.
