The Riesling Ried Kellerberg Magnum from Weingut F.X. Pichler represents an excellent example of Riesling from the renowned Wachau region in Austria. This wine is celebrated for its extraordinary purity and depth of flavor. Cultivated on the steep slopes of Kellerberg, the mineral soil and special microclimate greatly influence the character of the wine.

In every sip, Ried Kellerberg delivers a complex bouquet, revealing notes of green apple, white peach, along with hints of lemon and orange blossom. The well-balanced acidity harmonizes with a slight minerality, providing a fresh and vibrant profile, culminating in a long and persistent finish.

With its Magnum format, this Riesling is perfect for special occasions, offering a more complex and intense evolution of flavor due to the extended yeast contact. Ideal to serve with delicate fish dishes, mildly spicy Asian cuisine, or as a refined aperitif. A true gem for wine enthusiasts seeking a unique and unforgettable tasting experience.

Weingut F.X. Pichler – Winery in Wachau, Niederösterreich (Lower Austria)

Discover the story and wines of Weingut F.X. Pichler.

A leading winery in the Wachau (Austria), specializing in Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, known for its single-vineyard wines and terroir-centric approach.
Region: Wachau, Niederösterreich (Lower Austria)
Country: Austria
Grapes: Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc
Historic vineyards and individual prestigious Rieden. Portfolio composed of 50% Grüner Veltliner and 50% Riesling, with small lots of other varieties. Organic certification listed on the website and attention to sustainable practices. Decision to discontinue the traditional Vinea Wachau categories from 2020 onward, adopting the DAC approach for indicating origins. They also produce a natural, organic grape juice called "mini fx".
Winery history
The family estate has roots in the Wachau, and the Pichler family has been active for several generations; the Oberloiben estate is already mentioned as early as the late 19th century, and current management comprises Lucas Franz Pichler together with Johanna Elisabeth, who continue the family tradition. In recent decades the winery has expanded its holdings into individual high-quality Rieden, developing a style focused on physiological ripeness and on expressing the vineyard.
Production philosophy
They seek to highlight the character of each individual vineyard rather than a uniform style: hand-harvesting on steep parcels, careful attention to the physiological ripeness of the grapes and massal selection to preserve varietal and site-specific characteristics. Sustainable and organic farming practices are also in place and are certified on the winery's website.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located in the Wachau, with vineyards around Oberloiben and Dürnstein. Among the Rieden mentioned are Loibenberg, Kellerberg, Klostersatz, Trum, Burgstall and Steinertal; many parcels are steep terraces with dry-stone walls, typical of the Wachau.
