The Bologna Rosso DOC by La Riva is an excellent representation of the Emilian territory where the vineyards are situated, areas blessed for viticulture due to their unique microclimate and rich clay soils. This wine is primarily produced from Sangiovese grapes, with the addition of small amounts of other local varieties that contribute to creating a balanced blend deeply rooted in the region’s winemaking tradition.

Visually, it presents an intense ruby red color, indicative of good grape maturation and a meticulous winemaking process. On the nose, the Bologna Rosso DOC exhibits a rich and complex bouquet, where notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and plum, stand out, enriched by spicy nuances and a light vanilla touch, a result of aging in wood.

On the palate, it reveals itself as pleasantly tannic, with a perfect balance between acidity and smoothness. The tannins are well integrated and provide a solid structure to the palate, which concludes with a persistent and harmonious finish.

Perfect for pairing with Emilian cuisine dishes, like tagliatelle with ragù or Bolognese cutlets, this wine is also an excellent companion for aged cheeses and grilled red meats. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 18-20°C to fully appreciate its qualities.

The Bologna Rosso DOC - La Riva is not just a wine, but a journey into the heart of Bologna, a tribute to its land and its ancient winemaking traditions. Each sip tells a story of passion, care, and dedication, elements that are clearly reflected in this sophisticated red.

Winery history
Tenuta La Riva was founded as a family project, driven by Alberto's passion and the tradition of several generations. The estate has grown steadily, focusing on bottle refermentation and the promotion of local grape varieties such as Pignoletto and Trebbiano Modenese, with the family involved in every stage from vineyard to cellar.
Production philosophy
The winery favors refermentation in bottle and a low-intervention winemaking approach: organic farming, low use of sulfites and techniques that respect the land and health. For sparkling wines they practice long periods of lees contact and perform disgorgements à la volée for low- or no-dosage wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate, located in the Colli Bolognesi at Castello di Serravalle, is surrounded by the characteristic calanchi of the Emilian Apennines and lies about half an hour from Bologna. It cultivates indigenous and international grape varieties suited to the hilly terrain.
