Winery history
La Nascosta was established as a project of the Mastrojanni family, led by Antonio Mastrojanni. The project began in 2011 with the gradual acquisition of small plots in Val d'Orcia; the winery was designed by the family and the first vintage bottled under the La Nascosta label dates from 2018. In the following years management expanded with the addition of Luca Mastrojanni and the arrival of winemaker Gerhard Sanin, who helped define the company's current winemaking approach.
Production philosophy
The winery embraces the philosophy of "Camminare la vigna", which emphasizes presence, hands-on work and meticulous care at every stage: from the vineyard to the bottle. The approach aims to enhance grape quality and the expression of the terroir through precision viticulture, micro-vinifications and careful oversight of the aging process.
Terroir and vineyards
La Nascosta is located in Castiglione d'Orcia, in the Val d'Orcia, facing the southern hills dominated by Monte Amiata. The estate's vineyards are situated between approximately 400 and 430 metres above sea level on clayey soils rich in calcareous rock types, marine sediments and volcanic fragments, which contribute to the wines' complexity and minerality.
